The lesion was completely blanchable on pressure with a glass slide, thus giving an appearance of hemangioma clinically. There was no punctum on the surface of the lesion (Figure1). With a differential diagnosis of hemangioma ,a doppler ultrasonography of the lesion was performed which rather than suggesting a diagnosis of hemangioma complicated the process of differential diagnosis by suggesting a diagnosis of peripheral nerve sheath tumour or a necrotic lymph node, due to the absence of vascularity on colour flow (Figure 2). متن کاملNasopharyngeal Carcinoma with Cystic Cervical Metastasis Masquerading as Branchial Cleft Cyst: A Potential Pitfall in Diagnosis and Management
Introduction:Most metastatic lymph nodes from head and neck malignancy are solid. Cystic nodes are found in 33% - 61% of carcinomas arise from Waldeyer’s ring, of which only 1.8% - 8% originate are from the nasopharynx. Some cystic cervical metastases were initially presumed to be branchial cleft cyst. This case report aims to highlight the unusual presentation of cystic cervical metastasis sec...
متن کاملIntrathoracic Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor: Histopathological and Immunohistochemical Features
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare nerve sheath tumor derived from Schwann cells or pleuripotent cells of neural crest. Neurogenic tumors make about 10-20% of all mediastinal tumors. Incidence of MPNST is 0.001% in general population and 0.16% in patients with neurofibromatosis I (NF I). We report a case of 60 year female presenting with progressive cough and breathlessne...
متن کاملMalignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor in the Maxilla: Report of a Rare Case
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare malignant tumor that develops either from a preexisting neurofibroma or de novo. The cell of origin is believed to be the Schwann cell and possibly other nerve sheath cells. In this report, we describe a rare case of MPNST that arise from the socket of second left maxillary molar that has been already extracted in a young man. He was ref...
